Our story

Our story

The first seeds for our farm were sown in September 2015, when I visited a care farm for the first time and realised the wide-ranging benefits that can be gained from spending time outside, nurturing plants and caring for animals.

In May 2016 the seeds germinated when a small group of us decided we would look into the possibility of setting up our own care farm.

A great deal of investigation followed and we became a registered Community Interest Company (not for profit organisation) on 10th November and then opened our Community bank account - the first glimpse of new shoots from our seeds!

In the summer of 2017 we found the perfect home for our farm, Neepawa Cottage in Capel St Andrew - three and a half acres of farm with direct access into Rendlesham Forest.

We moved to the farm in November 2017 and within days we were receiving service users from Wots Up day service in Ipswich.  In April 2018 we became accredited to the County Council, we are members of Social Farms & Gardens (incorporating Care Farms UK) and comply with their Code of Conduct and we are accredited by the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS).

In July 2023, we finally bought and moved to The Homestead in Snape Watering, thereby providing the Care Farm with a permenant home.  As we had not moved far, all our participants came with us and since moving, new participants have joined us.  We have also welcomed another miniature shetland, Magic, to our Care Farm.
